Every year, we joyfully celebrate the birth of Christ, sharing and reflecting on the love that Jesus taught humankind. We light up our surroundings, decorate Christmas trees, spend time with loved ones, and sing His glory out loud. This year, almost 300 members of the Sathya Sai International Organisation (SSIO) of Australia have journeyed to Prasanthi Nilayam, as part of the ‘2017 Christmas Pilgrimage’ to celebrate this holy occasion in the Abode of Supreme Peace.

There’s much to get done in the coming days for the many volunteers and the excitement level has been steadily rising, as the joy of Christmas fills the air.

Members are actively involved in various aspects of the pilgrimage, including assisting with Christmas decorations, participating in the Christmas choir, and other service opportunities.

A group of our children from the Sathya Sai Education program (SSE), will be offering a play in Sai Kulwant Hall on 26 December, for which they have been rehearsing for many months now. Coordinating the production and logistics of such a production is not an easy task, but as Sathya Sai Baba has said on many occasions, ‘God is the doer, you are the instrument’, and so all are confident that this is in the hands of God. Parents and SSE Teachers will be working together to help our SSE children offer their absolute best, in what promises to be an exceptional offering.

The ‘festive season’, has a completely different meaning for those currently in Prasanthi Nilayam. Perhaps nowhere in the world is Christmas celebrated in the same manner as it is done there. The pilgrimage is a wonderful and rare opportunity for the participants to join with thousands of other pilgrims belonging to many different countries, different faiths and different cultures, to come together and celebrate this festival in such a holy atmosphere of dedication to God and the sharing of Love, Peace, fellowship and harmony.
